Approach to the Museum collection as a narrative.
Throughout the history of the Church it has, in varying degrees and forms, explored and expressed a perceived understanding and desired relationship with God.
The human condition is a continuous unfolding journey, navigation and inspired expression with God.
Creativity is the cornerstone of an expression of faith using inspiration to form material, theology, music and the written word. Each element being an
integral part and yet individual aspect to represent the spiritual realm and the presence of God within this material plane of formed matter.
Over time the language of expression has been revised for many reasons, so what can be collectively seen chronicles the journey of a faith and its relationship
to God.
The museum collection represents the progression of humankind to articulate through consciousness its relationship to the cosmos and instinctual sense of a
‘Cosmic Creator’ or ‘Creators’ in human creative language. It is a situation wherein humankind asks the question of where it belongs , its significance,
beginning , destiny and the relationship to a creative energy ; actuated through divine wisdom and direction being contained within the concept of
‘ Divine Free Will’.
Human language was borne out of the distinct consciousness of self and by imagination and knowledge of the human mind. Language is the apparatus or
effective mode of exchange of ideas and emotional feeling. Conversely, the internalisation of imparted or shared language leads on to become part of another
human’s internal perspective and reality. Our being and presence unfolds and articulates itself in and through language.
The approach to this exhibition collection has taken the direction of sourcing this accumulated inspired expression from the museum objects, Views and items
from the Vatican gardens and St.Peter’s Basilica in order to form unique narratives .
Through reduction or isolation, by juxtaposing and fusing these elements into new painting compositions the picture space becomes a new mode of expression.
Paintings and associated compositions are composed to invite the viewer to engage and thereby interpret and form a personal judgement on the narrative.
Each exhibit that forms the museum collection is individually a creative physical manifestation from the mind of a once participating incarnate soul-spirit made
‘In the image of God’. Collectively the exhibits are an expression in the contemporary moment of a particular period. They are affirmations of existence and the
participation of humans in the unfoldment of God’s creation.
Considering the collection in this way, it becomes part of the faith in God, animated beyond pure examples appertaining to the testimony of existence as each
human perceived their relative position within the cosmos in their place and time and hence a mirroring and offering up to God by humanity.
