‘Christos -Sophia The Divine Ministry - Divine Sophia and the Incarnation of Christ’.

             Alter Realism

            .

The painting presents Sophia looking upon the cosmos and in particular the earth. She administers Divine wisdom and

Divine energy. Sophia releases her spirit in the form of a Dove.
The representation of the Divine Wisdom {Sophia} is referenced from Raphael’s scheme for the Signature Room,

commissioned by Pope Julius II in 1508.

The heavenly portal of angels is created and formed from one of the Basilica Copula's. Superimposed on this is Sophia.

The moment of the Annunciation is portrayed by an angel looking upon Mary. This alludes to the message that Mary will

            carry the Christ Child.
The figure of the Angel and Mary are referenced from clay life sized figures exhibited in the Picture Gallery.

The Christ Child is taken from one of the children that represent the tributaries of the Nile which is part of the Nile Statue

located in the Nile Group within the ‘Braccio Nuovo’ from the Campus Martins (end of the first Century AD.)

The white Dove signifies the continual presence of Divine Wisdom, whilst the Christ Child looks out to the future that has yet
            to unfold.
