Friar’s Court is a historic site. The Cotswold
stone house has stood on its moated site near to
the river Thames for more than 300 years. There
has been habitation on the site since 1149, when
the monastic knights of St. John of Jerusalem,
founded the first ‘Hospitaller’ in Oxfordshire.
From the outer garden the rose garden can be
glimpsed – within the shade that merges the
borders giving off a sense of pervading peace.
