Spetchley Park is a wonderful estate and gardens which are connected with
Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire and the Berkeley family. At every turn there
is a visual delight. The composition relates to the relative reality we experi-
ence. In this picture Susan poses for the subject of someone reading and los-
ing herself in the inner world of words. A symbolic abstracted language when
infused with the internal world of the reader creates a reality of thought. This
is contrasted by the material reality of the surrounding beauty of the setting.
