Clifton Hampen House was built circa 1843-46 by the architect Sir Gilbert Scott for Henry Hucks Gibb,

            { 1st Baron Aldenham }.

The location of the house and extensive gardens are situated on a rise flanking the river Thames.
Thanks to the invitation of Christopher Gibbs, the owner at that time, following an open garden visit.

The composition captures the vibrancy of the Iris Borders.
The estate is now in new ownership.
