The Collection - Introduction
The Nature and Spirit of Blenheim is encapsulated within the material presence of the palace and estate, it represents and forms a statement
from the transience of the collective expression and affirmation of the lives lived.
Each personality enacts their respective script of pursuits, dreams, visions, drama’s and tragedies; in action and reaction to prevailing
circumstances, conditions and consequences of the human condition being played out within this expansive arcadian setting.
Each life leaves an imprint, whether positive or negative, beneficial or detrimental; all of which constitutes to the Essence of Blenheim.
The collection consists of new works that are the basis to the narrative of the exhibition, in addition previous paintings are included to
emphasis the Spirit of Blenheim - ‘Love and War’, in particular the celebration that Sarah Duchess of Marlborough made to the memory of
her husband.
Second, the pivotal role of the element of water in the creation of the estate and Gardens that form the Nature of Blenheim the harmony of
Human endeavour through imagination and ingenuity with the potential of surrounding nature throughout the periods of history.
