WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH 91 ALGONQUIN ROAD?
The first time we toured the house and gardens, it took our breath away. The
build quality, the solid doors and the floor to ceiling windows were so superior to
anything we'd seen. But really, our love started with the bathrooms - each more
beautiful than the last - and we were head over heels once we saw the property.
You have to see it to believe it. The romantic grape arbor, the cut flower garden, the
sweeping ivy, the greenhouse that can be your gym/artist studio/office, the guest
house, the hidden pool, the tennis court, the sweeping lawn. You will host the best 4th
of July parties in the neighborhood, and your house will be picture postcard perfect for
Christmas or Hannukah.

PLEASE DESCRIBE THE RENOVATION PROCESS...
When we bought this house, most of the bathrooms had been stunningly renovated,
and the whole house was very grand in a Downton Abbey kind of way. But it wasn't
fresh and it wasn't homey. We balanced the beautiful original 1922 details like cherry
paneling, servant bells and crown molding with a gleaming, contemporary white
kitchen, a skylight in the living room, and a sparkling new half-bath. The entryway
lost its broken and dated tiles. Upstairs, we took up carpets to reveal a gorgeous
wood floor. And the two car garage was not appropriate for our car-loving family,
so we added two lifts to make space for an additional two cars, and to allow the
mechanic in the family to work on the cars. Today this is a comfortable family
home that still inspires awe.

HAVE YOU ENJOYED HAVING A HOUSE WITH A POOL?
Let me tell you about our pool oasis - it's so large that my dog and I swim laps
side by side while my husband and kids goof around beside us. Since two
thirds of the pool is shallow, it is perfect for playing water basketball or for
teaching small children to swim. The handy pool bathroom means everyone
can keep the pool clean! The enormous trees around half of the pool provide
a pleasant shade while the heating keeps the water at the right temperature.
And the secure wall and gate mean children and pets CANNOT accidentally get
in. Plus it's perfectly private.

WHY ARE YOU MOVING?

We are moving to New Orleans! We always knew that we would only be a small
part of this house's history and we're so glad it kept us safe and entertained for as
long as it did. This was the house-love of our lives. We know the next owners will
feel as loved and protected.
