6 WILLOWBROOK DRIVE
Q: WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO 6 WILLOWBROOK DR?
A: When we moved back to the states from Prague, Czechoslovakia we had 2
teenagers. We were looking for a community with an excellent school system that
was within an easily commutable distance to New York. Westport checked off all of
our boxes and then some. We fell in love with it on our first visit! As musicians and
artists, we were instantly attracted to Westport’s rich arts history and we absolutely
loved Compo Beach.
We were especially thrilled when we found 6 Willowbrook Drive. It was an affordable
entry into the Westport real estate market. We were drawn to the fabulous walk
to town location, the size was just right for our family and we saw the potential to
renovate and create exactly what we wanted. The three levels of living were roomy
enough to raise our teenagers in a space where we each felt a sense of privacy. The
finished lower level was an added bonus that made a great social hang-out for the
kids. The icing on the cake was the small yard with very low maintenance.
Q: WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO RENOVATE YOUR HOME?
A: The home was in great need of renovation when we bought it. It had a full kitchen
on the 2nd floor and only 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom upstairs. The main floor
kitchen was closed in and dark with small, chopped up rooms. As artists and
designers, we enjoy a creative challenge! So, we hired Anne Lathrop from Sellars
Lathrop Architects to help us realize our vision of the modern industrial chic home
of our dreams. It was a fun project and we couldn’t be happier with the finished
project!
Q: WHY ARE YOU MOVING?
A: We never dreamed that we would have to move away from the home that we poured
our creative energy into renovating. We loved the house, the neighborhood, the
town of Westport and New England all together. But we had a job opportunity that
required this move. Leaving has been very bittersweet for us and we will always hold fond
memories of our home at 6 Willowbrook Drive.
