AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MCNEES’S,
PROUD OWNERS OF 184 EDWARD STREET
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU MOST TO THE HOME WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT?
The location! We loved the idea of being able to walk to the beach, town center with all the
restaurants, shops and entertainment, especially Fairfield Theater Company…our favorite place to
listen to live music on weekends. We also loved how active the neighborhood is, with people walking,
running, riding bikes and walking their dogs.
WHY ARE YOU MOVING?
This is the second house that we’ve built and we love creating new spaces! We have found a new
project, and while we have a special place in our hearts for this one, we are excited about taking on a new
challenge!
TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE UPGRADES & DESIGN…DID YOU WORK WITH A DESIGNER?
We worked really closely with our architect/designer and found we had great chemistry! Our architect
was able to take our ideas and translate them into beautiful spaces. We also love finding treasures in
stores like Serena & Lily, Millie Rays, catalogs and Pinterest for new decorating ideas!
CAN YOU SHARE A BIT ABOUT CREATING THE OUTSIDE ENTERTAINMENT SPACE?
We really created it with our family and friends in mind. We wanted a place where people can shower
after a day on the beach, enjoy lingering over dinner and by the fire pit, roast marshmallows on chilly
Fall nights and just enjoy a beautiful intimate space with gorgeous gardens.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROOM TO SPEND TIME IN?
Hands down our favorite “room” is the screened in porch. A great place to spend a lazy afternoon with
a book, always delightful with wine and cheese and close friends, even great for an informal dinner on
a warm summer evening after work.
DO YOU LIKE THE NEIGHBORHOOD?
Love the casual, beachy vibe from May to October. People are out and active really all year long, walking their
kids to school, or just getting some fresh air at the beach. We even have a neighbor who loves snow plowing
driveways with a small tractor plow. Always a helping hand. You cannot beat that!
