Interview with the Homeowner

Q: What made you fall in love with this home?

A: I was immediately drawn to the direct waterfront and the idea of being able to jump on my boat, at
any time, and going cruising, water skiing or fishing. Being able to come back to your own dock, not
having to offload or clean right away is such a bonus and more than anything, not having to jump
into a boiling car to get home. The views are incredible especially to the south and the sun pours
through the entire house on a sunny day.

Q: Please describe the renovation process.

A: I had been touring a lot of new construction homes trying to get some great ideas and I did.

Decided to trick it out as best as I could. Everything from the exterior shingled flares, interior lit
cupula and stone foundation, to the interior wide plank character oak floors, huge divided light
windows with heavy window trim molding to granite countertops, wet bar, dove tail drawers and
hidden top of the line appliances. I wanted to create a custom designer gem.
I added 2 gas fireplaces, carved out an office and utilized the exterior office wall for additional
counter space, wine cooler and sink. It was an enjoyable process and I was thrilled with the
              outcome.

        Q: Why are you moving?

A: After both boys graduated from Staples High School and a long exhausting career, we decided
to move to Florida. With Family, friends and long roots in Westport, we are sure to be back on a
consistent basis. Truly grateful to have been able to live here for as long as we did.

Q: Will you miss the neighbor/neighbors?

A: Shockingly the answer is NO. One of the best features of the home is that there was only ever 1
neighbor and they moved away before we did. However, we will certainly miss the neighborhood. The
close proximity to downtown and all the shops and restaurants in Saugatuck, really can’t be beat.

Q: Tell me about the grounds...

A: We wanted character but low maintenance. Decided to go with a decent amount of lawn with stepped

and terraced gardens. The privacy wall and privet hedge gave us privacy when we wanted it but didn’t
impede on any of the view from all 3 levels. We also loved that we had so much parking across the
street when we had people over or out on the boat.
