Top 15 Things we will miss about life at 29 Covlee
1. Location, location, location – it’s a magical sanctuary where you feel one with nature.
2. Watching the sun rise while in bed sipping a cup of coffee.
3. Entertaining here is so easy, warm and wonderful. The home just welcomes everyone. It’s the per-
fect place to celebrate family holidays, summer parties or just enjoy relaxing with friends.
4. Having appetizers and a glass of wine at the end of the day … watching the water birds fish for
dinner before the sky turns multiple shades of orange, pink and red while the sun sets, and simply
reflecting on the beauty of nature and the expansive sky.
5. Sitting under the covered porch reading a good book and listening to the birds, frogs and crickets
while watching the oyster boats in the distance along with the paddle boarders, kayakers and sailors
all enjoying the summer fun.
6. Hopping on our boat to cruise over to Cockenoe Island to go clamming with the kids and swim in
the warm summer water in the protected cove.
7. Enjoying the company of friends for a Fourth of July barbecue. Watching the fireworks from our
deck – both those from Compo Beach (Westport) and Norwalk (just over the Canfield Island bridge);
or taking the boat out and watching them from the Long Island Sound. You can also catch a glimpse
of the Long Island fireworks in the distance!
8. Participating in neighborhood association block parties both at the beach and neighbors’ homes.
9. Enjoying long walks from the house over to Saugatuck Island along the water.
10. Commuting easily to New York City. Both the major roadways and the Metro North train stations
are just a few minutes away.
11. Taking advantage of every convenience – each of which is just a five minute drive away including
clubs: Shore and Country, Shorehaven Golf and Saugatuck Rowing Clubs, SoNo Collection Shopping
Center and downtown Westport are minutes away, train stations are convenient (Westport and East
Norwalk); every kind of ethnic restaurant is nearby, easy access to I-95 or the Merritt Parkway. Yet you
feel like you’re a million miles away when you come through the front door.
12. Enjoying the serenity of the home as you feel like you are a part of nature the way the home is
situated giving you water views from most rooms
13. Working in my home office looking out at the water was something for which I will always be
grateful especially during COVID-19 stay at home periods.
14. Raising two children in this home and neighborhood was very special. It’s beautiful, safe, secure,
delightful in every way. There are many beautiful homes but not many that offer these views coupled
with a great neighborhood and a calming environment
15. I grew up bird watching so I love watching the birds migrate and change with the season – winter
ducks like mergansers, bufflehead, and goldeneyes; seasonal kingfishers/goldfinch/cardinals/etc.;
and summer birds like egrets, herons, and ospreys. It’s a bird lover’s paradise!
