AN INTERVIEW WITH THE HOMEOWNERS
WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH BERKELEY DRIVE?
We had been looking for quite a while and this property was not even on
the market when our agent told us about it. We wanted something special...
property was really important to us because we had a great architect and we
had a vision. The grounds stood out to us right away ......the kids were running
around the property and I pictured how much fun they would have with the
natural grounds, a pond for fishing and skating, and a pool for summer fun. Our
architect was excited to create magic with the property, the pool, and the pool
house. The fact that it had an entrance on a quiet street, while so close to the
schools was also appealing.
WHY ARE YOU MOVING?
Our kids are grown and don’t need this much space. We have loved this property
and it is actually a tough decision to move. In our next chapter we visualize a
boat and a deep water dock in Westport, with a smaller home but waterfront
property. We will be very sad to say goodbye to our amazing home filled with
so many great memories! As I answer this I am wondering why we are moving...
it is like living in a resort...our friends call and say “is there room at the "inn”?
WAS BEING CLOSE TO A MAIN ROAD A CONCERN?
Initially it was, but again, we had vision. The fence made a huge difference
and with the proper landscaping you can work miracles. We actually came
back in the evening to test the noise level and were surprised how quiet
and serene the property was...with 4 acres and spending most time in the
backyard, we don’t hear anything. Plus with the driveway and private road,
the kids had a safe place to ride bikes and play. We concluded that it was
actually a benefit to be on a main road. For one, we are always the first road
to be plowed and electricity to be restored.
TELL ME ABOUT THE RENOVATION PROCESS ...
We purposely created 2 options for in-law possibilities. We planned to be here
forever...so we created a floorplan that made sense to house future live in parents
or older kids coming home with our future grandkids. When the kids were younger
that “in-law” area was the perfect play area ...just far enough away but close enough
that I could keep an eye on them. Now perfect for college age kids to hang out with their
friends when they are home from school.
