TOP 10 THINGS WE WILL MISS ABOUT
1 BERKELEY ROAD
1. There is so much to miss at 1 Berkeley Road. What comes to mind first is its natural
park like setting. I fell in love with the nature and I love gardening here.
2. The calming and private setting that lowered my blood pressure. The property is so
peaceful and serene!
3. Walking up to the kitchen windows wondering what awaits in the pond.. I've seen Egrets,
Great Blue Herons, Night Hawk Herons (and many I can’t identify), all fishing in the natural
pond fed by the Aspetuck river eventually flowing into the Saugatuck River.
4. Going out to the garden to pick fresh vegetables, greens and herbs for dinner. Or for my
juice in the morning.
5. Every March I look forward to hearing the peepers symphony.. it’s truly a sign, spring is
near. I also love hearing the many different species of song birds and watching hummingbirds
and butterflies. Watching the perennial flowers emerge in the spring and cutting flowers to
bring inside during the summer.
6. Ice skating on the pond and inviting friends to join in the fun. In the warmer months, we
would row the boat around the island and go fishing along the shore.
7. Summer is so fun being in the pool amid the gardens and abundant colors. There was
always plenty of room for floats and swimming. When taking a break from the pool we
would play in the back area with our bikes, roller bladers and skateboards, or drawing with
chalk, playing, hopscotch, basketball and sitting in the shade to have lunch or snacks.
8. It's wonderful having a second full kitchen in the lower level. Entertaining, watching
football, playing pool or relaxing out back on the back patio. Everything is close and
convenient. We also loved having the porch doors open, letting the sweet morning air in
or cool air at night. Eating any meal on the porch became so enjoyable. Keeping the doors
open when hanging in the living room felt like we were outside.
9. Easton road was a concern but I don’t even notice it. As it turned out, it’s a blessing.
The street is well maintained, plowed and the trees groomed. Seldom lost power when
many others did. The fence was a wonderful addition for privacy. And yet you’re part of a
neighborhood with 25 homes in the back. The elementary and middle schools are walking
distance. I loved walking the kids to school but when they wanted to take the bus, all three
buses stop right out front. So easy and convenient. High school is a mile and a half away, so
close and easy for rehearsals and practices.
10. Waking up to the sunrises over the pond, the ripples of the ponds water reflecting on the master
bedroom ceiling and the fabulous warm tile in the master bathroom. Coming downstairs to a sunny
kitchen overlooking the beauty that all four seasons offered right in my backyard. I never
got tired of it. As I’m sure you can tell, I will really miss this wonderful home and property.
