~ AN INTERVIEW WITH THE OWNERS OF 634 BEACH ROAD ~

     Why are we moving?

We met and married in the Southern part of the US years ago and moved up the East Coast finally landing in Fairfield 15 years ago…. seems
like yesterday! It has always been our goal to get back to our first home in the South to be with our family and friends.
What made us choose 634 Beach Road over other properties when we bought in Fairfield?
Finding the home at Beach Road was fate….after looking at 50+ homes in multiple towns in a few days, the last home we looked at was our
slice of paradise…634 Beach Road… the light and airy feeling of the house, the open layout plan of the house, the large rooms, the private

feeling of the backyard, and after seeing that we could finish the attic, we knew we found a house for our young family to grow up in and live
for years beyond after the kids graduated. Moreover, the walking distance to the beach, the town, and especially of importance to us at the
time was that Roger Sherman Elementary school is around the corner and less than a 5-minute walk (with sidewalks). After we met with the

Principal of the school and taking a quick walk to the beach, we decided to buy it!
     Tell us about your neighborhood?
Our neighborhood is a natural gathering place for many people who not only live in the beach area but also in other parts Fairfield because of
where it is located. It’s near the beach, the town, the public Library, the Town Marina (where we had a boat slip for years) and it’s also close to
--the Elementary, Middle, and the High Schools. You will see the neighbors walking their children to school starting in Kindergarten and then

see the kids walking or biking by themselves at some stage. Our neighbors span many generations and they are runners, walkers, cyclists,
roller bladers, dog walkers, and beach goers…..Friday night, weekend, or weeknight meetings with neighbors and friends at the beach also
makes our area at the beach a social spot!

Because of the fun events that happen nearby every year--the annual Memorial Day Parade, the 4 th of July Fireworks at the Beach, the
numerous markets held on the Town Green Hall area throughout the year, and the Summer Market held on the Town Gazebo makes the beach
area a perfect gathering place and a draw to the area.
Did you commute to the city?
For years we’ve commuted by train to Grand Central and work in Manhattan, as do many of our neighbors. As our children grew up they also

commuted to summer internships to NYC. We also commute by car to Greenwich to New Haven, Waterbury and Danbury. We have a parking
space at the Fairfield Metro train station and on some occasions, we walk or bike to the town train Station. We always find a seat on the train
in Fairfield and this is much easier than those getting on in another town South of Fairfield. The train ride into NYC provides us with time to

get work done or listening to or reading a good book on the way home is relaxing. Going into NYC on the weekends on the train or driving is
something we have done over the years on a whim or for special events. We have friends and family in the Boston area and have traveled to
see them over the years. We have made ski trips to local mountains in Connecticut, or travel up to Vermont, Mass, or Maine for more advanced
skiing. The Port Jefferson Fairy is close by and a great day trip, so many things to do discover when you live in Fairfield!
Can you tell us about some of the ways you improved the space?

We finished our attic early on after buying the house and our children played up there and then grew into the space as it is today. It can be a
playroom, a bedroom, and now a room for adults, young and older. We thought about putting a bathroom in the attic, but never needed it.
Our crawl space is 5+ feet high so it’s a perfect spot for items that you may normally put in a garage and clutter it up. This was we can easily put

a car in the garage and as in most homes in the beach area another car can be in the driveway, our driveway can have at least 6+ cars parked, if
     you have guests over.
     The Kitchen:
Go ahead and open the drawers and the cabinets—be sure not to miss the large cabinets on the other side of the island. There is so much
storage space in the kitchen you might not know what to do with it all! A light touch closes the drawers and cabinets. You must open the

cabinet over the the sink you will never have to have dishes on the countertops again. The Miele appliances accentuate the layout design of
the kitchen. An expert brewed cup of coffee, latte, cappuccino, or espresso is just a touch away!
