INTERVIEW WITH
THE HOMEOWNER
What made you fall in love with this home?
When we first moved in, the house already had wonderful bones and timeless charm, but over
the years we made thoughtful updates to enhance both function and beauty. We didn't do a full renovation, but
rather a series of improvements-refining spaces, updating finishes, and
creating a balance between formal entertaining areas and casual family living. One of our
favorite transformations was creating a separate bar area within the open living space—it’s perfect for hosting
and has added a great dynamic when we entertain. Throughout, we’ve maintained the character of the wide
plank wood floors and made full use of the built-in cabinetry, which adds so much warmth and utility to the
home.
Why are you moving?
Now, as our youngest son is graduating from Staples, we’ve come to the realization that we simply no longer
need a home of this size. We actually hadn’t planned to move quite yet, but the perfect house for our next stage
of life came along, and we couldn’t pass it up. We're downsizing- and while we’re excited, our kids are definitely
not thrilled that we’re making the move!
Will you miss the neighborhood?
Over the years, the neighborhood has changed quite a bit. There’s been a wave of new families
moving in. It’s time for new energy and new memories to be made here. That said, we’ll definitely miss the
area. It’s a wonderfully quiet and peaceful spot—surprisingly so, given the Sturges address. The house sits on a
corner lot with a second driveway off Boxwood Lane, which is a beautiful street for taking walks or letting
children ride bikes safely. We rarely notice the road and have always felt very private here, while still being just
minutes from schools and downtown Westport. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
What makes your property so special?
The backyard has been our sanctuary. It’s lush, private, and calm—with beautiful gardens, a
large patio, and just enough space for kids to run and adults to relax. We’ve poured love into the grounds, and
it shows. The pool has been a year-round joy for our family—especially in the
winter—and we’ll truly miss hearing the laughter echo from it every season.
What has always made this home special to us is how it meets everyone’s needs—spaces for
entertaining, spots to unwind, areas for work and play. The layout gives room for formality and
fun. The connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, the thoughtful design touches, and the peaceful
setting—these are the things we’ve cherished. We hope the next owners will find as much joy here as we have.
This house has been good to us, and we’re excited for it to
welcome a new chapter.
