WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BUY/BUILD HERE?
We’ve always loved the street and thought one day we would live here. The privacy, the cul-de-
sac, the aligned schools, the horse farm behind, and the land-locked land trust adjacent would be
the perfect place for our custom home. That, and the fact that there are NO Wetlands!
HOW IS IT LIVING NEXT TO A HORSE FARM?
Beautiful is the best way to describe it. It’s 3 beautiful horses galloping or grazing throughout the day.
Very picturesque. Our neighbor boards horses, so anyone who is interested in owning a horse, could
potentially have it taken care right next door, or build and board on this property and utilize the land
trust for additional riding trails. Oh, and BTW, you get the wonderful view of the Horse Farm without
any smell whatsoever ;)
HOW IS IT LIVING NEXT TO A LAND TRUST?
Wonderful. And it’s land locked, meaning no one really knows it’s there or uses it. It’s like having 8
additional acres without paying any taxes. We walk the dog, experience wildlife, cross country ski,
and pick wild raspberries. It’s a huge bonus!
WHAT WERE THE DRIVERS BEHIND THE HOUSE DESIGN?
We wanted a custom home with an open concept with top of the line everything (flooring, trim,
doors, appliances, utilities/HVAC, etc etc). It’s great for entertaining with an open flow from front
to back, and out from the kitchen/Living Room space to a beautiful outside/covered loggia area
with a fireplace. We traded a formal Living Room area to include a pool table in the heart of the
living space (between the Living Room and Dining Room). We also designed it for flexibility;
changes as time goes on. We have 2 first floor suites that can act as in-law accommodations, office
space, nanny suite, or master bedrooms. One of the suites was designed to act as a “pool house”
complete with a fireplace, and washer/dryer hook-ups in the bath closet (if we had decided to go
forward with a pool). You’ll see wide hallways, wide/tall doors, wide staircases – all to accommodate
easy flow and movement. Great when you need to move things too! And the house was positioned
to take advantage of the morning sun (on front of house) and evening sunsets on the back of the house
across the horse farm.
