Ecclesiastes 12:7 says “Then the dust
will return to the earth as it was, And the
spirit will return to God who gave it”. The
fact that although the body has an end,
the soul has no end was illustrated by
Jesus by the example of the grain of
wheat. “Unless a grain of wheat falls into
the earth and dies, it remains alone; but
if it dies, it bears much fruit”. (John 12:
24). Therefore, it is justied for the soul
to praise eternity. “Where, O death, is
your victory? Where, O death, is your
sting?” (I Cor 15: 55). This shout of vic-
tory shall be rightly echoed through the
joyous celebration of Easter.
There are many who question whether
Christians in the modern world need to
place so much emphasis on the resurrec-
tion of Jesus. There are also people who
ask, “Isn't is sufcient to implement the
teaching of Jesus, especially the beati-
tudes?”
According to Paul, the good news
cannot be shared by keeping aside the
resurrection of Christ. This is what Paul
preaches about – in his letters (I Cor 15)
by giving a strong testimony of how Paul
transformed the lives of himself and oth-
ers. By rejecting the people's argument
that the dead are not resurrected, he
reveals the importance of the resurrec-
tion.
At that time, there were many people
who were skeptical about resurrection
and who preached that there is no resur-
rection.
