Colorado DeMolay,
What a year we’ve had! Our State Master Councilor worked hard to make this year one we could all be
proud of, and he did a great job! When his year began, we had no idea that we would be dealing with a Pan-
demic in the last few months of his term. Like all State Master Councilors before him, Seaghan planned for a
full year of official visits, surprise Chapter visits, events, activities, and travel. He did a remarkable job at
keeping his schedule and making things happen for the young men of Colorado, then the month of March
hit, and so did COVID-19. Everything came to a halt for our State Master Councilor, his officers, and our State
Sweetheart. Many would not have blamed our leaders if they just gave up, but none of them did. They con-
tinued to work hard, holding online Zoom meetings, small private socially distanced State Staff meetings,
keeping in touch on Discord, and doing all they could to make the DeMolay experience the best it could bein
these unprecedented times. They stayed positive even when they found out many of the events and activi-
ties on the calendar were going to be canceled including Sweetheart Ball, and our biggest event of the year,
Convention. I am very proud of how our officers and State Sweetheart pulled together to make the best of
what they were given. Each new State Master Councilor wants to leave their Jurisdiction a little better than
it was left for them. This year when the opportunity to do that seemed lost, our State Master Councilor, his
officers, and Sweetheart came together to show that through the cancellations, postponed events, and so-
cial distancing, they could get things done and prove that in any circumstance, Colorado DeMolay has the
grit and determination needed for continued success. It brings me much pride to say that I was able to work
with this group of young people who led the way for our Jurisdiction in such difficult times.
We were fortunate enough again this year to have one of our own become an International Officer,
Seaghan was elected to the position of ICS, and he now holds the title of the second ICS to come from Colo-
rado. This year will be much different for the International Officers as they are starting their term with no in-
person Congress Session, a small online Installation, and they will have very limited travel, but the impact
they make on our DeMolay around the world will still be something they can be very proud of when their
term comes to an end. Now, Jacob will take the reigns in our State, and I have all the confidence in the world
that he will also do a fantastic job in his position and in leading the young men of Colorado DeMolay.
Thank you to all of our Advisors and parents for taking time out of your busy schedules to help the young
men of Colorado. While our year has looked a little different this year, your help and support were very
much needed, and without you, the young men would have had a challenging time moving forward through
this pandemic with any enthusiasm. Just like all of you, I hope we are beginning to see the light at the end of
the tunnel. I have been happy to see the outdoor events and the in-person socially distanced meetings.
Thank you for helping get us back on track to an exciting future full of everything our young men have come
to expect from DeMolay. I also want to thank MWGM David Coberly for his leadership in a very daunting
time; he has been a great help to me this year. Thank you to all of the Masonic Family for the outstanding
support that is always given to Colorado DeMolay.
Fraternally,
Dad Jon Sellars -Executive Officer, Jurisdiction of Colorado
