Grammar Reference: Complex Object.
Complex Object is used with the following verbs: to want, to wish, to
desire, would like, hope, to like, to dislike, to hate etc., which are followed
by a pronoun in the objective case + infinitive. It expresses the desire or the
need.
He wanted his students to take notes during the lecture.
I would like you to finish this work by Tuesday.
We expect them to arrive at 5 o'clock.
He didn't expect her to refuse his invitation.
Would you like me to come on Monday?
I consider him to be a clever man.
