Grammar Reference: Complex Subject.
Complex Subject is formed by the combination of a noun(or a pronoun)
and an infinitive: Noun/Pronoun + Predicate + Infinitive. The predicate is
usually expressed by the following verbs: to know, to suppose, to think, to
say, to report, to announce, to seem, to appear, to prove, to happen, to turn
out, to be likely, to be unlikely, to be sure, to be certain.
She is known to live in France.
He is thought to be a clever and wise man.
The weather is said to change soon.
The ship is reported to be sailing across the Pacific Ocean.
The criminal was announced to have escaped from the prison.
The tickets were supposed to be sold in the afternoon.
The telephone happened to be out of order.
The young man proved to know everybody.
The house seems to be abandoned.
The necklace is likely to have been stolen.
