Professionals must take responsibility for their actions and decisions and be able to justify them
when required.
If mistakes occur, they should be acknowledged and corrected rather than hidden.
Accountability helps improve quality, reduces risks, and strengthens public confidence in
professional services.
Continuous professional development is another major responsibility.
Professionals must keep their knowledge and skills up to date by learning about new technologies,
laws, and best practices in their field.
This lifelong learning ensures efficiency, safety, and innovation, especially in rapidly changing
professions such as engineering, healthcare, and information technology.
Professionals are also responsible for complying with laws, regulations, and workplace policies.
This includes following health and safety rules, labor laws, environmental regulations, and
professional codes of conduct.
Respecting these rules helps create a safe and fair working environment for everyone.
In addition, professionals have social responsibilities.
Their work should contribute positively to society and avoid causing harm.
For example, engineers should design safe systems, doctors should prioritize patient welfare, and
IT professionals should develop secure and ethical technologies.
Professionals should also respect human rights and promote fairness and social justice in their
work.
