                                      Community & Recreation Services
by Sonny Culbreth, Assistant City Manager, Community and Recreation Services Director
This issue of the CityLine is very special to me. For the past 30 years, in addition to other positions
I have had the privilege to serve our community in, I have served as the Community and Recreation
Services Director. As the Director, I have experienced the growth of our Recreation Center
programs, the addition of award-winning Special Events and Community Services such as Block
Watch, Emergency Management, Census Counts, and Flag Raising Ceremonies for the Armed
Services, the establishing of Channel 11, and assistance programs for nonprofits that provide
services to our community. Community and Recreation Services contribute greatly to the energy
we have in our community and to the quality of life we enjoy.

On a side note, this will be the last introduction article I will be writing for the CityLine. After 30
years of having the pleasure of working for the City and experiencing the growth of our community,
I will be retiring at the end of June. I will still be around; Litchfield Park is my home. I plan to
enjoy all the excellent programs and events our Community and Recreation Services has to offer.
It has been an honor to live, work, and play here. Enjoy the CityLine; I’ll see you around.
