A Message from Mayor Tom Schoaf
Living in the City of Litchfield Park is special for many, many reasons, not the least of which is
our Community & Recreation Services. We enjoy an active community with multiple opportunities
to share special times with our friends and neighbors. Concerts on the Wigwam lawn attract
hundreds of attendees who enjoy these outdoor events. We sponsor multiple art and food festivals,
the Native American Art Festival, Christmas in the Park, fun runs, and the annual Winter Trout
Derby. We offer or support various youth recreational sports leagues and summer programs. We
also host Flag Ceremonies throughout the year to honor the founding of the Army, Navy, Air
Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines. We even provide an opportunity to dispose
of your household hazardous waste.
Our pool and Recreation Center offers an impressive breadth of activities including swimming,
tennis, pickleball, youth sports, fitness equipment, and a preschool. We have recently replaced the
pool’s cool deck, added a mural and a fresh coat of exterior paint. The restrooms are currently being
remodeled and we have a slide scheduled for installation before the summer season begins. The Recreation Center is a tremendous
asset to our community.
Our parks have received new playground equipment for our children to enjoy. We are constructing a restroom at Camelback Park.
The improvement process continues at Scout Park with replacement of the pathway and, thanks to our local Rotary Club, the
planting of many new trees has enhanced the beauty of this area.
As we move forward with planning the city center project, we are providing significant open space so that our various festivals and
activities can be integrated into the city center. Our goal is to create a destination for residents and visitors that will take the special
nature of living in the Park up another notch. Please participate in our planning process by attending the next public planning meeting
anticipated for early April, or by sending your ideas to City Hall or directly to me at tschoaf@litchfield-park.org.
