THE INNOVATIONS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FOR SAVE THE WORLD FROM COVID 19.
Innovation is a new idea, creative thought or a new imagination in the of a or a method which originates as a
solution to a problem. form When there are more problems around, more innovations come up. At present COVID 19
pandemic has created such scenario where the entire human population facing one of the biggest challenges the
world has ever faced creating many problems individually and socially. And university students have found answers
or solutions for many problems.
Keshara Weerasingha, a 3rd year undergraduate at the Department of Computer Engineering has taken the
initiative to design and build face shields to safeguard medical care front liners in this crisis situation. He has
already distributed 800 face shields to hospitals around the country. .

has developed a prototype of an innovative
Ventilator during this critical time of the COVID
19 pandemic The new Ventilator designed by Ashan
works on a pressure controlled respiration mode.
This is a promising development for manufacturing locally.
Kasun Vithanage and Keshara Weerasinghe, two
undergraduates from the Department of Computer Engineering,
University of Peradeniya have implemented a al-time patient monitoring
system to remotely monitor Covid-19 The project which initiated upon the
request of health authorities of the country was successfully installed at
the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital on the 24th of April 2020.
Under the guidance and supervision of Vice-Chancellor of the University of
Ruhuna, Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, students could demonstrate their
innovation at the election commission. The final product will be able to store voters' details
including name, National identity card number, fingerprint, and a photograph, allowing
the government to maintain a database of voters in a short period.
