In The Line of Fire 1990 - 2000

                                                   Fire Station No. 2
                                                      1616 Water Street

This Fire Station replaced the first Kelowna Fire Hall and has been a city landmark
since its construction in 1925. The original Fire Hall was equipped with a stable to
accommodate a horse drawn carriage. This modern facility, in its opening days,
served a city area of 1,281 acres and a population of 2,600.

This building will have memories to last a lifetime...for those volunteers who lived
and slept in the building...for that quick exit down the fire pole to the main floor...
for those who trained...for those who answered the call system..for those who activated the
Klaxton Horn which blared out the code of sound...
these experiences and so many other memories will last forever...

Fire Station No. 2 building has received Kelowna Heritage Registry.

This original 2 storey building has Georgian style features with a corner
tower and a bell cast cupola. The tall parapet, heavy cornices and lintels
give this public building the architectural style of the 1920s.

There have been numerous additions and renovations from
1945 -1991 to accommodate the required needs over the 50 years
that it served as the only Fire Hall until 1976.

In March 1977 the new Enterprise Way Fire Station became No. 1.
