                       The Kelowna Fire Department has 103 full time personnel and 75 paid-on-call
                      volunteers operating from 7 fire stations located strategically throughout the city.
                     Each station has a full compliment of modern, up-to-date vehicles and equipment.


                        In 2003 the department responded to over 6,400 calls including 3,323 alarms,
                                  structural, vehicle, chimney fires, motor vehicle accidents
                                           and 3,077 medical first responder calls
                                 and a number of rescue and hazardous materials incidents.


                                        The dispatch centre, which handles 911 calls
                                             for all fire departments within the
                                         Regional District of the Central Okanagan,
                                       processed 13,734 incidents in 2003 resulting in
                                  approximately 158,500 radio and telephone transactions.
