Answering the Call...
Each call is different...
each call has a different set of circumstances...
every fire is unique...every situation is new...
The strategy, once the call is received...
is to arrive at the scene of the fire as rapidly as possible.
Then assess the nature of the fire by determining the intensity and extent,
the type and abundance of fuel, the danger of entering the fire area,
and then determine the most effective techniques for extinguishing the fire.
To locate and rescue endangering persons, contain the fire by protecting adjacent areas...
to ventilating the fire to allow for the escape of heat and toxic gases...
and finally extinguish the fire...
In trying to protect life and property...life is always the most important...
It is interesting, that at the sound of the siren of an emergency vehicle going by,
we turn our attention to the sound or gather at the place where the siren silences...
because we are all curious to know what happened...
especially when the Fire Fighters answered the call.
