travel for travelers. Because personal breaks interrupt the momentum of the assignment and
introduce additional risks that could interrupt the timely rejoining of the team, they are
discouraged as a general policy.
Guidelines on Hotel Dayrooms during Transit
If travel from origin to destination is over 14 hours and there is a forced stopover requiring over
6 hours to make a connection, a hotel dayroom may be permitted. Depending on the
routing/fare basis, the airline may elect to provide this at no cost. In the event a dayroom is
requested, and the airline is unable to provide one, charges for the dayroom may be
reimbursable according to the allowable US government per diem.
