Herding goats and sheep in Italy
I was born in Italy under the sign of Scorpio in November
1951 in San Giovanni Lipioni, a village in the province of
Chieti in Abruzzo. It lies at the foot of the Apennines, 220
km from Rome and 185 km from Naples. It is at the same
level as Rome, 30 km as the crow flies from the Adriatic
coast. The region boasts one of Italy's largest national parks,
with beautiful mountains nearing 3,000 m, such as the Gran
Sasso and the Majella. The scenery is magnificent and the

cuisine exquisite.
My village is 550 m above sea level, lying on a hill with the
church on top of a mound and the square at the foot of it. A
6 Abruzzo, a research centre for particle physics. Il Gran Sasso is home to the
world's largest underground laboratory, at a depth of 1,400 metres. It is a
particle physics laboratory. We know that the universe is made up of galaxies,
stars, planets, dust and gas. The stars we see represent +/- 10% of the mass
of the universe. The planets, dust and gas also account for some 10%. The
remaining 80% is 'Dark Matter' and 'Dark Energy', for which we have no
trace and no certainty. The Gran Sasso laboratory is trying to find a trace of
"Dark Matter", which must be an elementary particle with a very weak
interaction. The results are expected in the next 10 years. As for Dark Energy,
it remains a great mystery!.
