DR. MONIQUE MAY
Dr. Monique May is a Board-Certified licensed Family Physician with over twenty years of clinical
experience. A native New Yorker, she has called Charlotte, NC home for most of the past twenty-three
years. She graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in psychology, obtained her
medical degree with honors from Temple University School of Medicine, and completed her internship
and residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center (now Atrium) in Charlotte, NC, where
she was named Resident of the Year. A lifelong learner, she completed a Masters of Healthcare
Administration at the George Washington University School of Public Health in 2017. Dr. May’s
commitment to her community was recognized in 2019 with a Physician of the Year award.
During her twenty-plus years of clinical experience, Dr. May has cared for entire families, from
newborns to the elderly. She has practiced in her own clinic, hospitals, worksites, patient homes, urgent
care centers, and via telemedicine. She now enjoys an administrative and consulting career.
Dr. May is a best-selling author and self-proclaimed kitchen gadget junkie who loves to cook and
experiment in her kitchen, which she lovingly refers to as her “lab”. Her first book, Meal Masters: Your
Simple Guide to Modern-Day Meal Planning, is an Amazon best-seller. She is well-known for her skills
in the kitchen and has recently started a home meal delivery service in the Charlotte area and on online
cooking class. She has also created delicious recipes for vegan and gluten-free poundcakes, in sweet
potato, pumpkin, chocolate, and lemon flavors.
In her spare time she enjoys cooking and experimenting in her kitchen (the “lab”), and enjoys sharing
her food and helpful/healthy cooking tips with others. Dr. May, known on social media as the Physician
in the Kitchen®, is well-known for her delicious food and cooking skills. She has recently started
chronicling her experiences in changing her diet in a series called Vegan-ish: A Physician’s Journey To
a More Plant-Based Diet.
Dr. May enjoys preparing healthy meals and looks forward to teaching others how to meal plan and
prep efficiently in her online demos and classes.Dr. May enjoys spending time with her teenage son,
cheering on her beloved North Carolina Tarheels, watching cooking shows on television (until she stars
in her own that is), trying out new recipes, traveling, exercising, reading, and shopping for the latest and
