Looking to
the Future
Two additional areas that we will be focussing on in 2024/2025 are Neurology and Orthopaedics. These two areas have been identified as areas of greatest need for the hospital to ensure we
can meet demand within the local community and provide patients with the care they need in a timely manner.
For example, currently, specialists at the San
are not able to treat all stroke patients in the best
possible way. In some very time-sensitive situations, patients are needing to
be transferred out of the San to nearby hospitals.
To ensure patients can receive the best care at the San, the Foundation team is working with Neurology Specialists to raise funds for a Biplane, a state-of- the-art piece of equipment which can scan a patient and enable specialists to remove stroke inducing clots as soon as they are identified.
Similarly, due to our aging population and advancements in technology, more and more patients are seeking
orthopaedic services especially for hip and knee replacements. To keep
up with this demand and ensure patients get the best possible outcome, the San needs to invest in new technology to ensure we can continue to provide the level of care people expect.
We are looking forward
to working with San Specialists and you, our loyal donors, to continue to improve the services offered at the San and ensure that every member of the San community can receive the highest level of care.
