If we consider the number of women Cavalieri recorded thus far in SA, we note that a much greater proportion of Cavalieri are men, compared to women (86% to 14%), with a total of 55 men and 9 women (see Figure 1).

We question the socio-cultural and structural barriers to such high-level recognition, as we
are fully aware that there are many Italian women deserving such high-level recognition.
By acknowledging the contributions of Italian women and fostering their professional growth, we aim to create a more inclusive and empowered Italian community in SA. This project is not simply about raising awareness, it is about making a tangible and positive impact on the lives of Italian women and the community as a whole.
