from beyond the Jewish community. It received relatively little comment in other circles, however. To date the video has received 650 views and the prayer petition nearly 15,000 views and 1700 signatures.
Still, prayer is prayer, and to be able to unite hundreds of people in prayer for the hostages is better than no action. It is also an awareness-raising exercise, whether or not people choose to sign the petition.
At the time of printing, the online prayer campaign continues, with regular updates, and will do so for as long as there are hostages in Gaza.
As we pray for the hostages, we remember, too, all in Israel and Gaza who are suffering. We grieve the loss of all innocent lives and pray for a swift conclusion to the war and a credible path to peace. We pray that all leaders on the international stage, as well as ordinary people, will play a responsible role in bringing about security, stability and just solutions in the region.
