Pray for the Hostages: Online Prayer Petition and Video

In the weeks following October 7, I created an online prayer campaign at Change.org, ‘Pray for the Hostages Held Captive by Hamas’, urging people to take three simple, significant steps:
1. View the faces of all the hostages (via a website devoted to their release),
2. Light a candle and pray for one specific hostage by name, and
3. Sign an online prayer petition as a symbol of collective prayer.
The online prayer campaign went live at Change.org on
6 November 2023, with the collaborative support of media personality and broadcaster Julie McCrossin AM,3 who also leant her videography resources and media expertise to the production of a video clip, A Call to Prayer: For October 7 Hostages (9 November 2023). In this video we highlighted the link between Kristallnacht and October 7, mourning the 21st- century pogrom committed in Israel, and issuing a ‘call for prayer’ via the Pray for the Release of Hostages online prayer campaign.
The video was well received by Jewish friends, who expressed their appreciation of hearing supportive voices
