We’ll keep an eye out for more of this next season lads! Mukund also showed good captaincy skills from midway through the season. Saraang and Rajat were our ‘boys with the golden arm’ who would break those stubborn partnerships and bring us back in the game.
Shashank often provided a late order flourish getting us those crucial additional 20-30 runs that helped put up a defendable total. And right through the season our on-field ‘motivator-in-chief’ Saad would keep the boys’ spirits high with his crispy one-liners (all clean, of course!). His looping leg breaks and some timely batting cameos rounded up the team effort.
Cricket aside, for me personally, it was gratifying to guide a group of boys who are loudly knocking on the doors of adulthood. And through this process I learnt one important lesson – giving instructions were so 2017, it was time to be a trusted guide and talk about not just cricket, but their other off-field interests. I can never have enough of these young champions as they emerge from their cocoons to develop wings. Go Boys!
