girls were new to Team Harris and had no playing experience before joining the team. Each of the girls in Team Harris and the teams we played each week played in the spirit of Cricket, with the full support of their family and friends at training and on game day.
Both on and off the field, the girls enjoyed each other’s company whilst playing cricket together.
The team's skill level improved from last season, leading to some excellent scores and individual brilliance. The new members soon caught up. The team persevered all season and won four games, finishing in 6th place overall in the competition.
We missed playing many games with the regular Friday afternoon rains, and we may have won more.
Emilia Black (9yo) - Miss Mili had a great season, thanks to her continuous encouragement of her teammates and fair play. Mili worked hard in the nets and on the field and improved in all areas of her cricket, with some excellent bowling and batting. Well done, Mili.
Kiara Chadha (8yo) - Miss Smiley's face. Kiara made significant improvements in her bowling and batting. Her action and confidence in her bowling were very evident, and her continued determination in her batting was always on display in the nets and on the field. Well done on your second season, Kiara.
Sahana Jairaj (9yo) - Miss Sahana had a consistent season again, with her batting improving with some good stroke play. Sahana's bowling improved as well, and she was unfortunate not to have more wickets as she managed to get a lot of deliveries past the bat and onto the batter's pads. Sahana has a natural ability to swing the ball, so many near misses do not reflect the really good bowling action she has.
Aleisha Nair (9yo) - Miss Aleisha had another very good season with Team Harris. She worked very hard on her training for batting and bowling, and it flowed into the games. Aleisha improved on her wicket-taking from last season and has a strong natural ability to bowl the full length of the pitch at a young age. Well done, and on to another great season.
Emily Fuller (10yo) - Miss Emily was our quiet achiever again. With her cheeky smile always appearing, she worked hard on her batting and bowling. Emily did well with her batting, getting consistent strikes of the ball with her bat and scoring runs when needed, even with some of her excited teammates making her run at every chance the ball came off her bat. Emily improved with the others with her methodical approach to her bowling. Great effort and persistence, Emily.
Emily Whiting (10yo) - Another great season and recipient of our best player award this season. Batting with intent and always trying to find runs, bowling both leg spin and medium pace to mix things up for the opposing batters. Each week, Emily learned more about having cricket awareness and strategy when batting against quick bowlers, having fun, and making runs by running early between the wickets. Backing those skills up in the field, having a powerful throwing arm, and successfully running out many batters with direct hits to the stumps.
