A Message from Madison

I can honestly say death changed my life.

We are here to celebrate, connect, and contribute
tonight! Whether we have already or are going to, all
of us will share in the experience of someone we love
             passing on.

Death is the ultimate uniter. It is something we all have
in common and at Morning Light, we believe everyone
deserves to pass on with peace, dignity, and the
feeling that their existence was valued.

While we are surrounded by pirates, mermaids,
snorkelers, Hawaiian shirts, and palm trees, it is
important for us to remember why we are here. We are
all here to validate the lives and legacies of everyone,
no matter what they did, where they come from, what
they look like, or who they loved.

Our community is about to experience the tipping point in aging. There are about to be more
people who need care than people who can give it. How do we solve these dilemmas around
death? The staffing shortages. The stigmas. The hurdles to receiving care. The isolation. The
loneliness. The lack of somewhere suitable to sleep. The lack of food. These are real issues and
they are often unspoken but they affect us all.

How do we start to change this dynamic for our seniors and our families? How do we make the
passing more peaceful? If we know it’s unavoidable, how do we start to combat the fear and
             stigma that surround dying?

Conversation. Empathy. Love. Care. Dignity. Generosity. Life. Home.

Our home is founded upon these values and principles and the belief that everyone deserves a
hand to hold at the end of life. Imagine being diagnosed terminally I’ll (6 months or less) and
having literally nowhere to go. That is the reality for so many of our residents. But they have us,
             and they have you.

That is why we gather tonight. To celebrate life and solve the issues that prevent us from the
quality of it. We gather tonight to support dignity in death, for all. Thank you for being part of
             the conversation and the solution.

             In service,
