Meet This Evening's Hosts

Dean Metcalf, the Executive Producer of The Bob &
Tom Show, has been involved with the Beach Ball
since its inception in 2004! For his dedication, he
was honored with the Beach Ball Community Award
in 2014. He has often stated that his father’s passing
during his teen years gave him an appreciation for
the type of support provided in the Abbie Hunt Bryce
Home. He and his lovely wife, Shannon, are very
passionate about animal welfare issues and are the
proud parents of three adopted dogs. Dean lives out
that commitment as a Board Member of Friends of
Indianapolis Animal Care Services. In his spare time,
Dean plays guitar and bass in a few bands, including
Beach Ball favorite, The Tempos!

Julie Patterson returns, by popular acclaim, for her
third year, sharing Host and Emcee duties for the
Beach Ball after serving as Honorary Chair in 2019!
Julie is a Ball State University graduate and has
been a local broadcast fixture for many years. You
may have listened to her morning show on WZPL in
the 90's and early 2000's. She transitioned to
television and spent the next 11 years as the Morning
Traffic Anchor for WISH TV. Recently, Julie decided
to ditch those early morning hours. She is currently
the Communications & Special Events Coordinator
for the Town of Cumberland, IN. "These are my
giving back years" she says of her current day job. I
get to plan fun events for my community. Check out
the Town’s Blues, Beer & BBQ events during the
summer months and Cumberland’s big Christmas
celebration, Weihnachtsmarkt, in December. Julie
has three grown children, one perfect grandson, and
a husband that loves to go to fundraisers with her! Julie Patterson
