WELLS WALLOPS WILDCARD
The third event for the 2023 season is hosted
by the Bucksaw Resort on Lake Truman Missouri.
This is the Lady Bass Anglers Association
Wildcard event which will not only wrap up
the regular season, but will also solidify the
Anglers of the Year and the qualifiers for the
Lady Bass Classic in October.
Truman held true to form during the practice
days. Things were tough, but anglers were able
to find patterns to set them up for tournament
days.
Fishing for the anglers on day one was tough.
While every boater brought fish to the stage,
only four limits of bass were caught with three
other anglers bringing 4 fish bags in for the
day. As is always the case, anglers were tight
lipped about where and how they caught their
fish. At the conclusion of day one, Pam Martin-
Wells jumped out to a substantial lead brining 15.33 lbs to the stage on day one. Her
big bass for the day was 4.89 lbs. “I was fortunate enough to come upon a spot where
I got all of my fish this morning. Once the wind
calmed and the temps rose, the bite got really
tough.”
Teri Cindric of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee weighed in
9.97 lbs of bass putting her in second place.
Close behind her was another Tennessee angler
Angie Scott with a 9.60 lb bag. Cheryl Bowden of
Texas was sitting in fourth with 8.14 lbs. Leslie
Anderson of St. Louis was sitting in 5th with
7.55 lbs.
In the Co-Angler division, Reed Springs, Missouri
angler Vannetta Groeteke jumped into the lead
with one of only three limits of bass. Her day
one weight was 6.35 lbs. Diana Uebelhack followed
her closely with 6.22 lbs. Less than a pound
behind Uebelhack, Lynette Fitts had a two fish
bag weighing 5.32 lbs. Susie Hurn was sitting in
4th place with 4.62 lbs. Cindy Adler-Jackson rounded out the top five with a three fish
limite of 4.62 lbs. Tight races are a norm in the co-angler division with their limit
being only three fish. Their success often depends on how well the angler they draw is
fishing and if they can adapt throughout the day.
The day one leaders in the Joey Ridgle Septic and Sanitation Big Bass Award were Pam
Martin-Wells in the Pro Division and Cassie Hall of Alabaster, Alabama in the Co-angler
division. The Vickie’s Threadworks Tiny Bass leaders were Cheryl Bowden and Beth Mills.
