you could get wet. Waders, coveralls, gloves, a thick hat, and warm socks are some of the essentials of proper
winter fishing attire.
As a tournament angler, I use lures instead of live bait. As such, it is recommended that you use lures that
more closely mimmick live prey. The choices to include would be hair jigs and smaller sizes lures that are
more natural looking and fit into winter environments. Another consideration sounds contradictory to the
natural looking baits, but it does relate to the senses of the fish that all slow during the colder conditions. On
occasion, select lures that are bright and shiny enough to be spotted easily. This could include spoons!
Your success in the winter can be impacted by all of the things listed here. Of course, there can be exceptions
to anything you read or hear, but one thing is for certain. You can’t catch any fish at any time of the year if
you are not out on the water giving it your best shot! Try the things listed hear and then experiment to find
what works best for you.
