Wells-Uebelhack Wins 2022 Lady
Bass Classic
The 2022 season of the Gary Yamamoto Custom Wagyu Beef and the
Inn at BK Ranch started off with anglers spending several days in vary-
ing weather conditions locating and determining the various patterns
that would come into play during the year end three day event. Those
varying weather conditions did help the anglers see how the fish would
respond during the tournament. Though as the final day of practice ar-
rived, so did unseasonably cold weather. The Lincoln area would expe-
rience the earliest freeze in history during our event. As practice ended
the celebrations began, with the recognition of the Anglers of the Year
at Lincoln’s Landing Pavilion along side Lake Logan Martin. With the
weather turning quite chilly, the host had a wonderful fire in the Pavilion
fire place for folks to gather and warm by throughout the evening.
As part of the celebration, a meal was catered in using Dusti Smith and her catering service amply named Cater Up! All
of the Classic Quantifiers, family and invited guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and the recognition of Lisa Johnson and
Sherry Jacks as the 2022 Anglers of the Year. Lisa and Sherry were awarded their trophies, checks and prize packs amid
cheers and applause.
All participants and staff received event shirts, goody bags and a variety of prizes provided by various vendors and sup-
porters of the LBAA.
As day one of the Lady Bass Classic kicked off, so did a huge fog bank that caused a slight
delay in the morning take-off. The bright spot of the morning was a hot breakfast sand-
wich provided by the Diner Bell. Shortly after, the anglers were released and expected to
use extreme caution under the conditions. Anglers were faced with cold and foggy con-
ditions most of the morning. While the cold and fog made it challenging for the anglers.
There was a silver lining. The need for homes to be heated, prompted the TVA to generate
which created current for those illusive Coosa river spotted bass. The current from the
generation set the anglers up for numerous bags of fish. When the anglers arrived at the
weigh in, temperatures had warmed and the fans filled the Lincoln’s Landing Pavilion. The
top five anglers on the pro and co angler leader boards all brought limits of fish to the scales.
In the Pro Division, Pam Martin-Wells brought an amazing five fish limit weighing 14.65 lbs to the scale. The closest an-
gler behind her was Pam Ridgle of Murchison, Texas with a five fish bag weighing 7.97 lbs. Sitting on her heals in third
was Lisa Johnson of Centre, Alabama with 7.73 lbs. In fourth, was Secret York of Benton, Kentucky with 7.61 lbs. Robyn
Cook, of Raleigh, North Carolina rounded out the top five with her 6.63 lbs.
In the Co-Angler division, the top five anglers were separated by just under three pounds. Holding down the top spot
was Noella McLaurin of Vivian, Louisiana with 6.71 lbs for her three fish limit. She was followed closely by Otwell, Indi-
ana’s Diana Uebelhack with 6.33 lbs. Benton, Kentucky’s Glyn Ellen Valentine was sitting in third with her 5.85 lb limit.
