Developing nations often have no formal theological training and their pastors and church leaders are in dire need of leadership development. Having been in ministry for over 50 years, John M. Edie and the team from Alongside Education Ministries, is helping to serve that need. To date, pastor and leader training has taken place in ten different countries with about 4,000 people experiencing some level of instruction. In late 2016, eight schools in Nicaragua completed a two- year study that included leadership, Bible doctrine, church development, and apologetics. God allowed 480 students to graduate. A young pastor emphasis began with the rst school held in Juigalpa, Nicaragua in 2017. By May 2018, a ministry targeting young pastors in Managua, Nicaragua will begin for 100 young pastors ages 35 and younger. In addition, plans are underway for a three-day leadership conference in Belize in July that will encompass many aspects of pastoral training. There is a possibility that in late 2018 a 32-week biblical institute will begin for pastors in Nicaragua.
