GOLF
The cool news is that there is always something interest-
ing taking place surrounding our Vegas pros, and 2020
and 2021 were no different, with stories aplenty. Here’s a
sneak peek of some of the most compelling moments from
the last couple years:
• Aspiring professional Jhared Hack fired a 57 at Las
Vegas Golf Club
• Former UNLV golf star Taylor Montgomery finished
26th on both the 2020-2021 Korn Ferry Tour money
list and in the 2021 Korn Ferry Tour finals to miss
receiving full PGA TOUR exemption in 2021-22
• Danielle Kang represented the United States in
Solheim Cup
• Collin Morikawa played lights out most of the sea-
son, winning a second major and finished first on the
FedEx Cup points list entering the playoffs
• Alex Cejka won two PGA TOUR Champions majors
The stories are epic and there are many more to come,
including the PGA TOUR playing in October for two
straight weeks in Las Vegas, with the Shriner’s Children’s
Open at TPC Summerlin and the CJ Cup at the Summit.
Plus, the LPGA Tour is scheduled to return to Shadow
Creek in spring 2022. Wow. Let’s a take a breath as we move
into the specifics of so many players repping #VegasGolf.
Let’s start with JHARED HACK, a Shadow Creek cad-
die who was previously exempt on what is now known as
the Korn Ferry Tour, prior to losing both his status and
his confidence. Hack relocated to Las Vegas in 2018, but
thanks to a new mental outlook, he is shooting unheard of
scores and winning tournaments. Now he is back on the
path to the PGA TOUR and is scheduled to hopefully take
the next step via the Korn Ferry Tour Q School this fall.
His 57 at Las Vegas Golf Club dethroned the 58 recorded
by the legendary Monte Money decades ago. And with-
out a dastardly 3-putt from five feet for birdie on the par 3,
17th, the score would have been 55 or 56.
