Meeting a Growing Demand
Southwest Medical strives to strengthen
health care in Southern Nevada
outhwest Medical is working hard to strengthen health care in Southern Nevada –
constantly striving to improve both the quality and quantity of health care options
Savailable to people in our growing community.
As Nevada’s largest multi-specialty health care provider, Southwest Medical, part of
OptumCare®, offers primary care, pediatrics, OB/GYN, specialty care, urgent care and senior
care. It’s been part of the community since the medical practice was founded in Las Vegas in
1972.
As Southern Nevada continues to grow, so does the demand on the local health care sys-
tem. Southwest Medical is helping meet this demand with a robust recruitment program and
partnerships with area medical schools.
The practice has grown to 36 state-of-the-art locations, plus access to a network of prima-
ry and specialty care providers throughout the region. Southwest Medical and OptumCare
Nevada now offer a network of 400 providers, including 80 new providers that were added in
2018.
In recent years, the newly launched UNLV School of Medicine was awarded $3 million
from the UnitedHealth Foundation, which includes Southwest Medical. While it won’t sin-
gle-handedly solve the longstanding doctor shortage in Southern Nevada, this and other new
medical schools will help meet the increasing demand for physicians.
Since demands on the system continue to grow, Southwest Medical is working with all the
community’s medical and related schools, including Roseman University, Touro University
and Nevada State College, to support the education and training of new providers and to
improve the local health care system for everyone involved.
Like any organization committed to serving its community and helping it reach its full
potential, Southwest Medical seeks the best ways to accomplish those goals in the health care
field. Starting at the top with CEO Dr. Robert McBeath, a longtime local physician and grad-
uate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, staff is dedicated to advancing health
care locally while serving their patients.
Like McBeath, many of the company’s physicians and other medical staff are homegrown
Nevadans who have spent many years at Southwest Medical.
Dedicated physicians and medical staff put their patients’ needs first — catering to the
way they live and keeping them healthier by providing easier access to health care resources,
often helping Nevadans overcome significant challenges in accessing reliable health care.
Last year, Southwest Medical served more than 400,000 local patients with over one million
annual visits.
The company and its team members are proud of positive patient outcomes resulting from
their high-touch (direct emotional interaction), patient-centered and preventative care.
