Grand Event City
While the previous several decades have offered a wow factor,
the future for Las Vegas will be epic
STORY BY BRIAN HURLBURT, @LVGOLFINSIDER
hat will the Las Vegas event scene look like next year, five
years and ten years down the line? While nobody knows for
Wsure, based upon past history and educated guesses, it will be
e-p-i-c!
Well, it already is epic so it will be epic-er, or correctly stated, more epic.
Fueling the future of events in Las Vegas is the construction of the new
Las Vegas Raiders stadium, a 65,000-seat crown jewel coming online in
2020, that will provide Las Vegas a venue event organizers and promoters
never had before in their list of amenities.
Also debuting on the landscape will be The Sphere, an 18,000-seat venue
that will take live concerts to the next level. The Sphere, scheduled to
open in 2021, is a partnership between Madison Square Garden and
the Las Vegas Sands. Rolling Stone recently described the venue as “the
world’s most audaciously advanced concert venue.”
At the forefront of the event scene for the last three decades and helping
catapult it into the future is Las Vegas Events, a one-stop shop of experts
with more than 200 years of total experience organizing, promoting and
operating events at every level.
“Las Vegas will continue to develop annual signature events like
the NBA Summer league, festivals like Life is Beautiful and Electric
Daisy Carnival, as well as major participatory events like the Rock n’
roll Marathon and United States Bowling Congress Open,” says Pat
Christenson, president, Las Vegas Events. “With the opening of the new
stadium, Las Vegas will compete for events we hadn’t been able to in the
past. The Super Bowl, college football playoffs, and Final Four are at the
top of the list. However, any event that fits into the calendar and meets
our criteria will be considered. With the opening of the Sphere, Las Vegas
will be in a position to attract visitors to the destination that will receive
the most unique live music experience in the world. In conjunction with
the current live music venues and proliferation of residencies, Las Vegas
will continue to build on its reputation as the number one live music
destination in the world.”
There are so many major events in Las Vegas each year that there is
no way to accurately count them all. And a list of major one-off events
doesn't even take into account the already busy schedule of UNLV
sports, Vegas Golden Knights hockey, Las Vegas Aviators baseball,
Las Vegas Aces WNBA basketball, Las Vegas Lights soccer and the
impending Las Vegas Raiders NFL action.
There’s a very good reason that the Vegas calendar is jam-packed full of
concerts, basketball tournaments, rodeos, marathons, rugby matches and
so much more:
