Spanish Trail—Truly Private
STORY BY BILL BOWMAN
n 2019, Spanish Trail Country Club will return to its roots of being a truly
private country club. Spanish Trail opened its doors in 1984 as one of Las
IVegas’ premier private clubs. The tree-lined beauty of its Robert Trent
Jones, Jr. designed golf course offers 27 holes of championship golf combined
with unparalleled scenic beauty that exemplifies a premier country club
experience. But it’s not just golf that makes this a stunning country club lifestyle.
“For 2019, we’re focused on two main areas of the club,” says Bill Paulos,
President of the Board of Directors. “First is the dining. With that, I’m proud to
say that we’ve hired Andre Rochat as Chef de Cuisine for the club.” Many in Las
Vegas know Chef Andre from his three restaurants including Alize, which was at
the Palms Casino for over 18 years. “I’m not aware of another private country club
in the country that has a Michelin star chef on staff,” Paulos adds. “The second
focus is the condition of the golf courses. We’ve spent an additional quarter
million dollars in 2018 and the improvements are remarkable. Superintendent
Jon Christenson has been a great addition to the team and members appreciate
what he has been able to do in his first year at Spanish Trail.”
“Every month there are numerous events for families and for adults. There is a
great cross section of members from every business and industry. Networking is
a big deal here and it’s only going to get better,” says Stan Spraul, CCM, General
Manager. “Spanish Trail is the most social club I have ever been involved with,”
Spraul adds. “There are always events going on and there’s a tremendous amount
of camaraderie. We have members who stop in for dinner and cocktails nightly
before heading home.”
Spanish Trail Country Club is just minutes from the famed Las Vegas Strip.
Once golfers step to the first tee, they will quickly find themselves in a park-like
setting that is worlds away from the glitter and lights.
The country club atmosphere is over-the-top in the massive clubhouse that
features world-class dining. Tennis and swimming are included and a fitness
center is available. A recently added outdoor patio features two fire pits,
barbeque grill, and new opportunities to mingle. Additionally, the club can take
advantage of exceptional desert weather eight months out of the year and bring
the outdoors in via sliding glass walls.
Memberships are available. If you’re looking for a golf course and community
that offers elegance on and off the course, it is time to check out Spanish Trail
Country Club. There is never a Food & Beverage Minimum and a locker and golf
bag storage are included.
Board member David Brownell has the final word. “Our vision, our culture,
our core elements are best realized in a private country club setting,” he says.
“We are getting our identity back. It buoys us for the future and for our future
members. We want to be a well-rounded country club and carry that forward.”
