                                                               Open Announces 2020 Date



                                                               It was an epic Las Vegas PGA Tour event in 2019 when
                                                               Las Vegas resident Kevin Na won the Shriners Hospitals
                                                               for Children Open for the second time, joining three-time
                                                               Vegas champ Jim Furyk as the only multiple winners in the
                                                               tournament’s four-decade history.


                                                               The event used an earlier date (Oct. 3-6) than previous
                                                               years to attract one of the best fields in the tournament’s
                                                               history, and easily the best field in recent years. Among the
                                                               notables to play were world no. 1 Brooks Koepka, Bryson
                                                               DeChambeau, Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, fan favorite Phil
                                                               Mickelson, and Charley Hoffman, Ryan Moore and Adam
                                                               Scott led a strong contingent of players with strong ties to
                                                               Las Vegas and/or UNLV.


                                                               In 2020, the tournament is to be played at a similar time—
                                                               Oct. 8-11—and tournament officials hope for another stellar
                                                               year. Attendance jumped to 72,842 in 2019, up from 55,000
                                                               in 2018.

                                                               “We have to continue to evolve,” Shriners Open executive
                                                               director Patrick Lindsey said the day after the tournament.
                                                               “That will involve getting feedback from clients, volunteers
                                                               and spectators, then putting together the best plan to move
                                                               forward. Attracting great players will always be our No. 1
                                                               priority. … To see the mass of people come from holes 16 and
                                                               17 after Kevin and Patrick teed off on the 17th tee on Sunday
                                                               and fill up the hill overlooking 18 was very rewarding.”
