n 1928, two golf enthusiasts—Ralph Shattuck and
George Waale—leased Billy Welch’s hayfield and
Ibuilt a 9-hole golf course, making Welches the
home of the first Oregon golf resort. Since then the
golf course has expanded to 27 holes known for ex-
ceptional views and fantastic greens.
FOXGLOVE 9
Formerly known as the Red side, Foxglove is the
latest addition to Mt. Hood Oregon Resort cours-
es. Established in 1981, Foxglove is best known for
its iconic first hole, which features The Rock in the
center of the fairway. With the blissful Salmon Riv-
er flowing through the first three holes, Foxglove has
potential to be the most peaceful nine holes you will
ever play.
PINECONE 9
Pinecone was established in 1928 and is often re-
ferred to as the Original Nine. This scenic course
offers 360-degree views of the cascading hills of the
Mount Hood National Forest.
THISTLE 9
Often considered the most forgiving and the easiest
to walk, Thistle has character that returns golfers time
and time again. Although Thistle is the only par 34
course, water comes into play on half of its holes.
The Resort offers first class events in an incomparable
setting and is capable of hosting shotgun tournaments
for as many as 224 players. Mt. Hood Oregon Resort
also offers elegant lodging with 147 guest rooms and
ten suites all boasting a warm and rustic retreat among
300 acres of exhilarating natural beauty. A full-ser-
vice 5,000-square-foot spa facility features seven
treatment rooms including three massage rooms, a
skin care treatment room, wet treatment room with a
Vichy Shower, a deluxe doubles treatment room with
an oversized two-person soaking tub and a manicure/
pedicure room. Completing the indulgent spa experi-
ence are separate saunas for men and women plus a
relaxation area with a stone fireplace and our Infiniti
Tea Garden.
