TOUR TALK
Natalie Gulbis, LPGA TOUR (17)
Gulbis, who is a yoga advocate and fitness expert, believes golf can be a fantastic addition to your everyday workout routine. Walking through 18
holes is equivalent to a five or six mile walk and about 10,000 steps per 18 holes. Adding in the actual process of playing can also help potentially
burn up to 2,000 calories. These stats are from FitnessMagazine.com. “You can get fit and enjoy being outside and the challenge of the game,”
Gulbis told the magazine about playing the course and hitting the range as part of an overall fitness routine. “Golfing is great cross-training.
Anybody can go hit. Fitness has to be fun.”
(18) Charley Hoffman, PGA TOUR, UNLV Alum
“The best tip I ever got from UNLV head coach Dwaine Knight wouldn’t be golf related,” says Hoffman. “It would be him always demanding us to
show up on time and to be ready and prepared. That’s more of a life lesson than a golf lesson. He stressed going to class and showing up
on time, and that made me a better person, and I still remember that to this day. When I tell you a time, I will be 10 minutes early and I won’t be 10
minutes late. I learned that from Coach Knight and being a part of the Rebel program.”

Ryan Moore, PGA TOUR, UNLV Alum
Excerpt from Golf Digest: “Want to know how many swing changes I've made? Zero. I turned pro playing a fade, and I'm still playing
one now. My message to you is that hitting a draw might get you extra distance—when you execute it correctly—but when it comes to accuracy and
reliability, you're much better off fading the ball. Why? It requires a simpler, more-intuitive motion to execute than what's needed to hit a draw. Lee
Trevino made a hall of fame career out of this shot.”
