The Hamiltons had the unit on and off the market several times since 2016. It came on most recently in April with
an asking price of $4.9 million.
The Hamiltons were only the third owners of the unit, buying it in the early 1980s from people who a few years
earlier had bought it from the Wrigley family.
In the late 1920s, chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. and his wife, Ada, were members of the group of
wealthy Chicagoans who commissioned New York architect Rosario Candela to design a building here with the
same luxury and panache he lavished on the upper-end buildings he did in Manhattan.
